CNRS Press Release (in French)

The dishes and antennas are installed in South Africa and Australia. SKAO is now an IO (international organization)
Currently an observer on the Council of the organization, France is now engaged in the process of applying for membership as a member of SKAO (SKA Organization), with the aim of submitting its membership application to the vote of the Council in the coming months. Seven countries have already signed the International Convention establishing SKAO as an intergovernmental organization: Australia, China, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

French participation in the preliminary phases of SKA is carried out until today through “Maison SKA-France” created in 2018, and piloted by the CNRS. It brings together fourteen partners: seven public institutions (CNRS, Observatoire de Paris – PSL, Observatoire de la Côte d’Azur, Inria, CEA, Université de Bordeaux and Université d’Orléans) and seven companies (Air Liquide, ATOSBull, Callisto, CNIM, FEDD, Kalray, Thalès).
